Raise your hand if…it got to the mid 80’s at your house today and you were sweating like a banshee!  Yeah, me too.  By the way, what is a banshee and do they really sweat?  Who knows!

Anyway, it was gross!   And heaven forbid I go dig out any shorts…nosireeebob…I’d just rather walk around with my jeans rolled up, looking like a total idiot and embarrassing the children.

The good part of the day was that all 4 kids were here today with us.  My son and husband worked cleaning up the yard; the oldest daughter worked on the farm nearby, but came and went; the middle daughter raked the garden and got the peas in, and the youngest daughter did my inside chores.  My brother even stopped by and helped…it’s days like this that remind me of the importance and joy of family.

The weeping cherries are starting to bloom ever so slightly, the hostas are growing in front of our eyes, and my astilbes are shooting up as well.  The peonies…well, those babies are going crazy!!  They didn’t bloom so well last year, so I hope they bloom wildly this year….I’ll post photos when they arrive. In the meantime, here’s a little lavender-filled heart that I made for my friend who’s a singer.

A peaceful night to all…sweet dreams.

  1. a banshee comes from the old irish words bean sidhe (ban shee) which literally means, a woman of the Other. the Other People are the ones who live underground, around the corner, beneath the hill. the banshee wails when someone in an irish family is about to die. they say the sound of her cry is so unearthly you know exactly who she is, even from the first time you hear her. so no, i doubt a banshee sweats, but wow does your garden sound pretty!

  3. I can't believe it was 90 here today! I even turned on my central air because of the pollen causing multiple asthma attacks!
