Quiet Sunday

Hi friends. Today's been a gray, drizzly, quiet day around our little acre, but in a good way...not many phone calls, not too much TV, not much noise. Our weather stick says "not-so-great weather", but I beg to differ.

It was a good day to spend time in my art cottage painting another sign, which I did. It was also a good day to have family close by. My husband spent hours and hours a little while playing a fishing game on the new Wii; so far, he's used it more than the kids have.

Our four kids have all gone out to eat together, which is a rarity. My daughter-in-law and granddaughter are away for a week, so my son is here more than usual. His sisters cajoled their brother into going with them....this should be funny! He has no idea what he's in for...those three girls together are a force to be reckoned with! I can't wait to hear their tales of the trip!

I just got off the phone with my mom...she's 88 and lives about ten miles away. She was sitting on her porch reading, wearing a sweatshirt, with a blanket wrapped around her legs! Oh, how I love New England weather. Like they say, "if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute"...there's nothing like it!

I think I'll put on a sweatshirt and head on out to the porch, too. It's quiet out there, with only the sounds of the "night animals" to be heard. Granted, I can hear cars in the distance, but if I concentrate, I can make that noise disappear. G'nite everyone.

  1. Hi Carol---
I wish we were having your weather! It has been
holy hot here for several days. It is hard to be motivated when it's sooo hot.
Don't worry about the tag but I am worried
abut THAT sandwich you described! :)
Also, do you that Cocolate bread recipe for my
    vegetable beast? Thanks!!

  2. Hi Melinda. Well, I spoke too soon. Today we have a "hot weather alert". The heat, combined with the wretched humidity, will put us in the 100-plus degree category! I. Hate. It.

So...I have a recipe for Chocolate Zucchini Cake with Chocolate Icing. If you want that, I'll be glad to send it to you. It might be easier via email, but if you want, I can do it thru my/your blog comments. Let me know. And may I say...thank heavens for a/c!!

  3. Hi Carol, still keeping an eye out on your blog even though I don't comment. I'm trying to really stay off the computer so much. Take Care

  5. Hi Carol,
I also love it when it's dank and drizzle, something very comforting about it. Especially when I can light candles and just sit and enjoy the quiet. Alreay twitterpatted that fall is around the corner. Finished Tougais book last night...didn't want it to end!

  6. Hi Nancy. I know what you mean about that book. I loved it, too. I'm going to check and see how many more like that he has written. I especially loved it because his cabin is up near where I go during the summer. :)

Did I tell you that I'm attending a workshop by Mike and his publisher in November? It's all about how to get your book written/published.
